Responsibilities

Participate in new product and process development as part of a fast-paced Corning Emerging Innovations organization
Based on project objectives and overall strategy, drive learning efficiently and systematically by designing, planning and executing experiments on lab and pilot-scale equipment
Drive critical understanding based on first principles, inference and observations
Support design of prototype equipment and pilot equipment, establish baseline processes and transfer process knowledge to engineering team
Manage day to day activities with hands-on experimentation and documentation/sharing of results
Define the appropriate process and response data to collect, then analyze and interpret that data to generate actionable insights
Coordinate with other process areas to build a shared understanding of the overall process window and deliver samples for internal and external use

Required

Master's or PhD degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, ceramic engineering, material science engineering or related discipline
3+ years of experience with green tape, tape casting and advanced formulation experience

Preferred

Advanced ceramics or similar materials processing
Battery testing, design and fundamental understanding
Surface science and characterization
Deep process integration and/or material understanding in battery-related materials
Delivery of results in a high-tech, fast paced and dynamic environment
Manufacturing and/or pilot manufacturing experience of advanced product
Managing technicians; defining day to day work and objectives
