The role involves managing the handling of finished produce, assisting with post-harvest cleaning, and running market booths at local farmers markets while participating in various aspects of organic farming.

Responsibilities
Help with daily harvest
Lead the wash and pack operations
Pack CSA shares according to plan in a timely manner – double checking to make sure everything is loaded appropriately (CSA pack should take ~45 mins for 100 shares including set up and clean up)
Sort and grade produce
Keep the wash house clean and organized
Lead the crew doing pack shed activities
Restock packing materials & communicate with the harvest manager when additional supplies are needed
Manage cooler inventory and ensure all pallets are wrapped at the end of the day
Maintain safe storage of cooler inventory
Coordinate use of farm crew as needed
Assist with the planning, preparing and packing for the Farmers Market on Fridays
Set-up and break-down of the market booth on Saturday
Record keeping of market sales using the Square App
Saturday recap to team of market sales
Strategize quantities / varieties to bring to market and other ideas for increasing market sales
Seeding, transplanting, weeding, thinning and other field work
Qualification
Required
2 seasons farming at an outdoor vegetable farm (CSA farm experience preferred)
Basic understanding of harvest methods for all types of vegetables
Knowledge of vegetable storage methods and requirements
Knowledge of food safety standards
Ability to identify all types of vegetables and sort/grade produce for quality
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to efficiently manage and motivate people during cleaning/packing operations
The ability to lift at least 50 lbs
The ability to work in heat, cold, and rain
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift frequently
