Information Technology Infrastructure Intern

Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. is an electric utility offering an Information Technology Infrastructure Intern opportunity for 2026. The intern will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of the IT department, assisting with hardware installation, cabling, and other infrastructure projects.

Natural Resources

Responsibilities

Under supervision, the intern will be responsible for assisting in physical hardware installation, cabling, documentation, service provisioning and migration, setup of monitoring and ticketing, and decommissioning of old equipment
Projects May Include The Following: • Data center upgrade for computers, storage and network
Splunk monitoring and alerting
Wi-Fi enhancement and UHF radio communication

Required

Successfully completed two (2) to three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering from an accredited college or university
Foundational understanding of IT infrastructure (hardware, OS, storage and networking)
Highly motivated self-starter who has a willingness to learn new technologies
Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Preference will be given to students who attend accredited colleges and universities in Tri-State's service territory which includes Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and New Mexico
