Comptroller - Hearings and Tax Litigation Summer Intern (Law Clerk)
The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts is seeking a Summer Intern for their Hearings and Tax Litigation division. The role involves drafting legal documents, performing legal research, and attending tax hearings to support the agency's mission as the state's chief tax collector and accountant.

Responsibilities
Draft position letters and notices of hearings in preparation of SOAH hearings, and draft or respond to motions during the contested case process
Perform legal research and draft memos recommending action by other agency divisions served by AHS
Attend and observe tax hearings before SOAH, trials and motions in Travis County District Court, and oral arguments before the Austin Court of Appeals or Texas Supreme Court
Meet with taxpayers and their representatives to narrow the disputed issues in a contested case, with the goal of executing a written agreed resolution to settle the case without a hearing. Draft compromise and settlement agreements, and other written agreed resolutions to conclude contested cases
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited college or university and currently enrolled in an accredited law school seeking an LLB or JD degree
Legal research, writing and analysis
Preferred
A minimum of one year of law school completed
Some post-college professional experience preferred
