Responsibilities
Track project progress and perform analysis of bottlenecks, trends and critical path
Analyze and report data to develop a complete and accurate picture that will inform decisions regarding the management, quality, and control of projects
Implement appropriate performance management techniques for the project
Identify trends and deviations from the original plan and recommend appropriate corrective actions
Coordinate and manage job startup and closeout meetings in accordance with the job closeout and startup procedures parameters
Produce weekly project performance metrics reports and provide analysis of results and support if implementation of production reporting on all projects
Work with project team to identify roadblocks to productivity and reporting, acting as a liaison between office and field to communicate the importance of performance metrics
Identify opportunities for alignment to Department practices for organization of project folders to ensure document control
Develop, maintain , and apply quality management processes for the ongoing project or change initiative
Establish and maintain the reporting structure for projects to bridge the information gap among stakeholders
Enable complete transparency and accountability of all projects
Identify , apply, and evaluate cost control techniques to support the monitoring, managing and reporting of costs
Compile and access the project’s actual progress on regular intervals to leverage trends and forecast a realistic project cost and schedule completion
Develop bid and project labor rates in accordance with prevailing wages, union agreements, and customer parameters
Coordinate and participate in estimate turnovers to support the budgeting process
Create project budgets
Identify budget shortfalls and work with the project manager to mitigate impacts
Establish productivity metrics for projects and communicate these metrics to project team
Provide weekly report out on department AR efforts focusing on oldest receivables and assist the Project Assistant team with mitigating challenges with collection
Ensure proper change management throughout project phases , assisting in entry of change order budgets as required as a supplementary resource to the Project Manager
Assist the Division Manager in quarterly budget forecasting by extrapolating data from various systems and facilitating PM input on project revenue projections
Provide support to the subcontract management process
Identify , apply and evaluate risk control techniques to inform the risk management process
Provide risk management assessments from project startup, by identifying risks and opportunities as a product of the estimate turnover and contract review
Clearly identify how approaching risks impact the projects’ schedule and budget and drive these to the forefront for discussion and mitigation if necessary
Create and update a Division Schedule for all projects, tracking start and end dates as they fluctuate to assist in resource planning and manpower assignments
Create high level schedules for project bids, as well as manage scheduling for smaller projects as required as a supplementary resource to the Project Scheduler
Assist project managers in resource management for Virtual Design Coordination, Project Assistant, and Project Controls teams
Complete software and hardware requests for IT needs for Division Manager approval
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5+ years related experience working for an electrical contractor is required
Degree in Business Administration, Construction Management or related field is required
Direct construction management experience may substitute degree requirements
Understanding of basic labor relations, including union contract requirements, and hiring practices
Knowledge of project financial management including billing, cash flow projections and related activities
Understanding of conceptual budgeting and design build
Knowledge of work in progress reporting and productivity monitoring
Experience with client and stakeholder relationship management
Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)
Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
Must build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees, management, and customers
Displays the ability to embrace and encourage change
Exhibits a strong planning and delivery orientation
Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations
Preferred
Experience in Primavera P6 or related scheduling program preferred
Working knowledge of Viewpoint or similar accounting software or related accounting system
Familiarity with project management/document control software
