Home Loan Specialist | Closer
LincOne Federal Credit Union is a local not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative focused on helping members keep money local. They are seeking a Home Loan Specialist/Closer to prepare, coordinate, and finalize residential mortgage and home equity loan closings while ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering exceptional service to members and partners.
Responsibilities
Review approved mortgage loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory and credit union requirements
Prepare and balance closing disclosures and closing packages, ensuring accuracy of fees, rates, and terms
Prepare Home Equity Closing documents
Coordinate loan closings with title companies, realtors, and internal department
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including TRID, RESPA, TILA, HMDA, and state-specific requirements
Resolve discrepancies and prior to purchase conditions prior to closing to prevent delays or funding issues
Verify insurance, title commitments, payoffs, and other required documentation prior to closing
Ensure mortgage and home equity loans are closed, funded, and boarded accurately and within established service level standards
Maintain detailed and organized loan records in accordance with retention policies
Assist with post-closing corrections and audits as needed. Assist with clearing suspense items from mortgage closings and provide faster turnaround times for fundings from investor
Balance mortgage general ledgers (GL’s)
Balance wires from loans purchased by investors- complete appropriate transactions in GL’s
Pay Escrow accounts from LincOne escrow accounts
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the mortgage operations team
Follow up on trailing documents-filed DOT’s and final title policies and send to investors
Prepare files to be sent to quality control for review
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 1-2 years in mortgage closing, processing, or title services
Proficiency with mortgage LOS (e.g., Encompass) and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to be bonded and meet SAFE Act requirements, including NMLS registration if required
Preferred
an associate or bachelor's degree a plus, but not required
