Assistant Project Manager

McKenney's, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to help manage the pre-construction, design, execution, and close-out of projects. The role involves assisting the project team in engineering management, estimating, scheduling, and procurement to successfully execute construction projects and support additional work acquisition.

Responsibilities

Assist the project team in managing internal and external engineering teams, including multi-trade engineering coordination and shop drawing review
Estimating, budgeting, and written proposals
Understand contracts and contractual scope
Planning and scheduling, including short-term interval scheduling of various crafts
Manage material, equipment, tools, information, and subcontractors on each job
Material, equipment, and subcontractor procurement
Cost control (internal accounting system, change orders, etc.)
Ensuring quality and performance
Assist the project team in communications with general contractors, architects, engineers, and owners
Assist in managing start-up, commissioning, and owner training
Assist the project team in supporting field crews
Safety awareness, training, promotion
Warranty administration
Market and promote the entire company
Understand, practice, and promote all company values and operational procedures
Mentorship and development of Co-ops

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or building construction
Will accept an equivalent business management degree with a focus on construction or engineering and 1-2 years of project management experience overseeing technicians working with mechanical systems
If no degree, a minimum of 5+ years of internal experience working with plumbing, piping, or HVAC systems in the office or the field
Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of Word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software
Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to respond quickly to changing customer demands
Respect from subordinates, peers, customers, and supervisors
Willingness to sacrifice short-term gain for long-term results and accomplishment
Detail-oriented
Ability to multitask
Strong desire to provide excellent customer service
High sense of urgency
Highly motivated to achieve
Have a genuine passion for the company and the industry

Preferred

Demonstrated successful experience in the construction industry
Two years of experience managing mechanical work
Strong Business Acumen (entrepreneurship counts)
Knowledge of Account Management (managing multiple customers)
Leadership exposure (conferences, training, etc.)
