Responsibilities
Lead Cloud Migration: specific ownership of the roadmap to migrate legacy on-premises telecom systems to a cloud-native AWS architecture
Program Director Oversight: Manage the full lifecycle of complex technical programs—from scoping and resource allocation to delivery and post-implementation support. Manage budgets, timelines, and cross-functional dependencies
Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary bridge between Engineering, Client Relations, and Sales. Translate business requirements into technical execution plans and communicate progress to executive leadership
Architectural Guidance: While you may not code every day, you will guide the architectural decisions for building scalable, resilient backend systems. You will ensure the team makes effective tradeoffs between business priorities (time-to-market) and a sustainable technical foundation
Operational Excellence: Mature the cloud-based platform to be low-touch and robust. Work with support teams to establish SRE best practices, ensuring 99.99% availability for critical telecom services
Data & Integration: Oversee the integration of services through ETL-style workflows and API development, ensuring seamless data flow between Investment Operations and Portfolio Management systems
Develop and promote the company’s culture of engineering excellence
Define, develop and deliver solutions at a top tier investment bank or another esteemed client
Perform other duties as needed
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience
Deep technical roots in cloud architecture
Experience in large-scale cloud transformations and telecommunications
Program Leadership: 10+ years of experience in technical leadership, with at least 5+ years specifically in a Program Director or Senior Technical Program Manager role overseeing large-scale engineering initiatives
Telecom Industry Expertise: Mandatory experience within the Telecommunications sector. Deep understanding of BSS/OSS systems, high-volume transaction processing, and regulatory requirements within the telecom industry
AWS Cloud Migration: Proven track record of executing large-scale Cloud Migrations to AWS. Experience moving legacy monoliths to the cloud using tools like AWS Migration Hub, Database Migration Service, Direct Connect, etc
Extensive previous experience (10+ years) as a hands-on software engineer
Ability to 'speak the language' of the developers (Python proficiency preferred)
Deep familiarity with Terraform (IaC) and AWS services including DynamoDB, OpenSearch, Neptune, Lambdas, ECS, and API Gateway
Strong aptitude for high-efficiency data structures and designing systems that support diverse business needs
Ability to work on new products under fluid conditions, seamlessly balancing tactical fires with long-term strategic goals
Strong leadership skills including consensus building, total quality commitment, and accountability
Measure success in terms of business outcomes (uptime, cost savings, migration velocity), not just lines of code shipped
Preferred
Bachelors/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or MBA with a technical focus
AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional) or AWS Certified Migration Specialist
Experience with PMP, Agile/SAFe methodologies in a large enterprise environment
