Employee Relation Manager

Responsibilities

Oversee Employee Relations (ER) case management and investigations, ensuring timely and compliant resolutions across both Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions
Drive continuous improvement in HR policies and tools to provide seamless, high-quality service
Directly manage high-stakes or sensitive ER issues, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state/federal employment laws, recommending updates to company policies and procedures accordingly
Lead the oversight of performance management processes, ensuring clarity, fairness, and business impact
Use data-driven insights to identify ER trends and root causes, providing proactive recommendations to boost engagement and mitigate risk
Collaborate with Operations and union partners on workforce transformation, including reskilling for emerging technologies like AI
Partner with Centers of Excellence (COEs) to identify future skill gaps and develop career pathways for evolving business needs
Explore innovative, AI-driven solutions to enhance HR delivery and organizational effectiveness
Coach and develop a high-performing team of HR Delivery Partners, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth

Qualification

Required

7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years specifically managing ER or HR Delivery teams
In-depth understanding of employment legislation and ER best practices in both Canada and the United States
Proven ability to balance organizational risk with the 'human impact' and translate HR data into actionable business insights
Demonstrated strong leadership and coaching skills
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and high accuracy
High level of integrity and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality while managing highly sensitive workplace issues and investigations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French (required for collaboration with stakeholders in Ontario, Quebec, and the U.S.)
