Director of Finance
Saxe Doernberger & Vita, P.C. is a nationally recognized law firm dedicated to representing policyholders in insurance coverage disputes. They are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance to lead the firm's financial operations, oversee the full revenue cycle, and support long-term growth while partnering closely with firm leadership and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Lead annual budgeting and multi‑year forecasting, providing data‑driven insights to guide leadership decisions
Oversee pricing and rate governance (blended, discounted, alternative fee arrangements)
Monitor market trends and translate insights into recommendations for pricing, staffing, and investments
Manage end‑to‑end billing and collections, including e‑billing governance, dispute resolution, and realization improvements
Maintain internal financial policies and controls; update procedures as pricing models evolve
Partner with Billing and attorneys to ensure timely, accurate invoicing aligned with client guidelines
Oversee financial components of matter intake across SurePoint/LMS, NetDocs, and Caret
Govern rate codes and billing types and ensure compliance across systems
Manage workflows for assignment changes, data accuracy, and system alignment
Produce financial statements, KPIs, and performance reporting for leadership review
Ensure accounting compliance, audit readiness, and strong internal controls
Safeguard sensitive financial data and support ethical wall requirements
Partner with HR, IT, and Marketing/BD to maintain accurate financial and matter data
Support attorney education on billing policies and pricing standards
Lead and develop the Finance & Billing team, establishing clear workflows and growth pathways
Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and data‑quality enhancements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred
8–12+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally in a law firm or professional services setting
Expertise in law‑firm financial operations, pricing governance, and e‑billing compliance
Advanced Excel/BI skills and strong command of accounting and internal controls
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder‑management abilities
Preferred
Experience with SurePoint/LMS, NetDocs, Caret, and ContactEase preferred
