5+ years expTechLine Consulting is seeking a Lead Security Engineer to become their first dedicated security hire. This role involves designing, building, and operating the company's security function, including compliance and infrastructure security, while collaborating closely with various teams as the company scales.
Responsibilities
Own SOC 2 compliance end to end, including readiness, audits, documentation, and ongoing policy enforcement post-certification
Design and manage infrastructure security across AWS, Vercel, and Cloudflare
Implement and maintain access controls, secrets management, logging, and threat detection
Serve as the primary owner of vulnerability management, including bug bounty programs and penetration testing
Investigate, triage, and remediate security findings directly
Lead internal security initiatives including device management, IT vendors, and physical office security
Partner with payments, fraud, and engineering teams to identify and mitigate attack vectors such as bots, abuse, and transaction risk
Build incident response processes and security best practices as the company grows
Qualification
Required
5 to 8+ years of professional security engineering experience
Strong hands-on background in cloud and infrastructure security
Experience owning SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks from start to finish
Deep familiarity with AWS environments and modern web infrastructure
Ability to operate autonomously and make pragmatic security decisions
Comfortable being the sole security owner in a fast-moving organization
Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
Preferred
Location: San Francisco or NYC preferred. Remote available with ability to travel to SF or NYC 1 to 2 times per month
