Development Specialist - Development and GCPS Foundation

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a Development Specialist to provide financial, administrative, donor support, and operational assistance to the GCPS Foundation Fund, Inc. The role involves supporting development operations, donor stewardship, scholarship administration, and financial reporting to advance the mission of the GCPS Foundation.

Responsibilities

Provide financial, administrative, donor support, and operational assistance to the GCPS Foundation Fund, Inc
Support the Interim Director of Development in executing development operations, donor stewardship, scholarship administration, and financial reporting to advance the mission of the GCPS Foundation
Maintain effective communication with schools, departments, fund holders, and community partners
Process incoming donations, mail, and donor communication
Support office operations, calendars, meetings, and correspondence for Foundation staff
Manage financial software systems and generate requested reports
Maintain all Foundation funds, including scholarships, grants, and program accounts
Enter and reconcile financial data using Raisers Edge and Financial Edge
Prepare deposits, reimbursement claims, and required documentation for audits
Support the Business and Finance Division in budget preparation and monthly reports and assist in resolving problems related to bank reconciliations
Assist local school and central office personnel with daily financial tasks to ensure that proper procedures are being followed
Review and prepare supplier W-9 forms received for processing, following district guidelines
Process queries as assigned and ensure corrections are completed accordingly
Assist with the annual auditor visit by organizing and pulling documents and reports needed
Prepare daily reports for deposit and payment of invoices with required copies for auditor, district Chief Financial Officer, and the Foundation Office
Support online scholarship and grant systems, including application cycles, verification, scoring, and reporting
Maintain accurate student, donor, and fund records
Prepare Board reports and scholarship award check distribution
Assist with donor acknowledgment, gift processing, and record accuracy
Maintain donor databases and prepare stewardship materials
Support development communications, including newsletters, annual report, and donor updates
Maintain the online grant website pages; application process, manage selection committees online reviewing process, prepare and deliver grant award checks with grant provider personal presentation of checks and prepare the Board of Education report
Support and maintain employee/retiree relations
Manage and maintain the employee/retiree PERKS database
Assist in organization of employee/retiree giving campaign
Process all payroll deductions monthly
Assist with logistics for Foundation events, including the Gwinnett Sports Hall of Fame
Support silent auctions, ticketing, vendor coordination, and event communications
Support accurate and relevant information on the Foundation website, social media, and all print and online publications
Assist with special projects as assigned
Perform other duties as required to support Foundation operations
Support Foundation events and activities that may occur outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, as required

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
Four years administrative, financial, or nonprofit operations experience required
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines with accuracy
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse internal and external audiences
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate integrity
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based platforms
Working knowledge of Blackbaud Raisers Edge and Financial Edge
Ability to process deposits, maintain accurate financial records, and support audit preparation
Strong proofreading, spelling, grammar, and editorial skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functional teams

Preferred

Bachelors degree in business, nonprofit management, communications, or related field preferred
Experience in a school system or foundation environment preferred
