Summer Intern - Operations & Programming

YS Kim Foundation is dedicated to empowering Korean Americans by fostering leadership and building a connected community. The Summer Intern will work closely with the Camp Naru Program Director to support and implement programs and initiatives, providing an opportunity to engage with the Korean American non-profit community and contribute to the foundation's mission.

Civic and Social Organizations

Responsibilities

Event & Camp Programming Support
Support in planning and preparing for the one-week overnight culture camp (e.g., evening activities, cabin time, Naru Mart, and workshops)
Assist in the planning of in-person community-building events such as the Family Meet & Greet and Staff Meet Up
Support in coordinating event logistics, such as booking venues, managing participant registration, and preparing materials
Operations Support
Coordinate communication among staff, campers, and stakeholders
Assist with seasonal staff onboarding, including data collection, references, and background checks
In collaboration with the camp leadership team, coordinate with CITs (Counselors-in-Training) to prepare for camp
Ensure proper documentation and organization of program materials
Training
Attend and provide feedback during camp staff training sessions
Review training materials and offer on-site support for pre-camp training
Camp Week Support
Serve as support staff as part of the Operations & Programs team during camp week
Execute programming and operations during camp week and support onsite logistics
Provide support for camp programming and operations as needed
Independent Project
Develop and execute a project aligned with your academic major or interests, focusing on program enhancement, cultural recognition, community building, or youth engagement
Present the project outcomes and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship
Foundation Initiatives
Support foundation projects through research, project management, and community development initiatives
Prepare materials and complete tasks as assigned for camp and other foundation initiatives
Other duties as assigned

Required

Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a full-time Bachelor's degree program (or equivalent or higher qualification)
Must be at least 18 years old
Alignment with Camp Naru's mission and values
Passionate about community-building, youth leadership, and cultural engagement
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Interest in working with youth and supporting identity development; ability to serve as a positive role model through confidence and self-awareness
A collaborative team player with a proactive and adaptable approach
High emotional intelligence, including empathy, compassion, and cultural sensitivity
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, adapt to changing circumstances, and problem-solve in dynamic environments
Demonstrated patience, creativity, initiative, and attention to detail

Preferred

Experience designing and implementing programs
Previous camp, volunteer, or service-oriented experience
