Systems Engineer – Managed IT Services
Bowman Williams is a well-established Managed IT Services provider based in Manhattan seeking a Systems Engineer to join its growing technical team. The role involves mentoring junior engineers, managing cloud and virtualization environments, and addressing complex infrastructure issues.
Responsibilities
Act as a senior technical resource for infrastructure-related incidents, outages, and escalations
Support and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory and Group Policy
Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 and Exchange user accounts
Manage and support Azure-based environments and cloud services
Work with VMware to support virtualized infrastructure
Configure, troubleshoot, and support firewall environments, primarily SonicWall
Coach and guide Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers on troubleshooting approaches, technical decisions, and ticket quality
Participate in incident management, providing clear internal documentation and client-facing updates
Perform proactive and reactive incident response for system and service anomalies
Identify repeatable tasks and drive automation through scripting and tooling where possible
Utilize documentation and systems management tools to maintain high operational standards
Qualification
Required

Hands-on experience with Azure and cloud infrastructure
Strong background in VMware and virtualization technologies
Solid experience supporting Windows Server, AD, and GPOs
Working knowledge of SonicWall firewalls and network troubleshooting
Experience administering Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online
Strong troubleshooting skills in unfamiliar or complex environments
A customer-first mindset with the ability to balance technical rigor and business impact
Preferred
Familiarity with IT Glue; automation and documentation experience strongly preferred
