Responsibilities
Design and implement ontologies, taxonomies, and semantic data models for enterprise security domains (identities, devices, alerts, incidents, behaviors)
Translate complex security telemetry, workflows, and operational concepts into formal semantic representations
Enable knowledge graph–driven reasoning for detection, correlation, investigation, and automated remediation
Define and maintain canonical entity models and relationships used across Defender automation pipelines
Collaborate with security engineering, AI/ML, data, and platform teams to ensure semantic consistency and correctness
Support entity resolution, normalization, and aliasing across multiple security data sources
Contribute to architectural decisions for AI-enabled security platforms in regulated environments
Document schemas, assumptions, and modeling tradeoffs to support long-term evolution and reuse
Qualification
Required
Senior-level software engineering experience
8+ years of experience in data modeling, ontology design, or semantic schema engineering
Demonstrated experience designing formal knowledge representations for complex, multi-source systems
Strong programming and data modeling skills
Deep understanding of entities, relationships, and normalization strategies
Ability to reason through ambiguity, inconsistency, and edge cases in real-world data
Ability to work independently across security, AI, and platform teams
