Fuels Accountant II
Interactive Resources - iR is seeking a skilled Fuels Accountant II to join their Accounting team. This role involves supporting complex accounting processes related to fuels, hedging, and plant operations, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and GAAP.

Responsibilities
Review and/or prepare reconciliations and periodic analyses of accounts, procedures, and departmental practices; provide alternative recommendations where appropriate
Prepare moderately complex schedules, work papers, journal entries, general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations, including intercompany accounts
Maintain general ledger accounts related to fuels and plant activities
Ensure company assets are properly accounted for and safeguarded
Reconcile fuels, hedging, and plant sub-ledgers to the general ledger; identify system or interface weaknesses and recommend corrective actions
Perform fluctuation and variance analysis of financial statements and prepare reports with supporting documentation
Research and analyze complex accounting rules and regulations and determine applicability; recommend implementation guidelines
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance through timely communication
Review and finalize journal entries prepared by other staff within materiality guidelines, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end accruals
Analyze business processes, identify issues, and recommend improvements to processes and internal controls
Provide accounting system and process support for new business activities or process changes
Review and update accounting policies and procedures; conduct internal control evaluations and monitor approved improvements
Assist with monthly and annual close processes, audits, financial reporting, and audited financial statement preparation
Serve as a liaison with internal and external auditors
Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to accounting staff; assist with onboarding and knowledge transfer
Qualification
Required
Six (6) or more years of experience in accounting, business, economics, or a related field
A degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline may substitute for certain years of experience, depending on guidelines
Detail-oriented
Intermediate Excel skills
Strong interpersonal and analytical abilities
Independent judgment within established guidelines
Collaboration with supervisors, managers, and more experienced colleagues

Oil and gas industry background
Experience with derivatives or hedging instruments
