Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain AWS OpenSearch indexes, mappings, analyzers, and index templates
Develop .NET 8 (C#) backend services that ingest, index, and query data from OpenSearch
Implement and optimize OpenSearch query DSL for performance, relevance, and scalability
Design and maintain data ingestion pipelines that collect content from:
+ Databases (relational and NoSQL)
+ File-based sources (S3, documents, exports)
+ External systems and APIs
+ Websites or content feeds (where applicable)
Normalize, enrich, and transform content prior to indexing (metadata extraction, text processing, field mapping)
Build and expose search APIs using AWS Lambda and API Gateway
Support batch and near–real-time indexing workflows
Deploy and operate services on AWS ECS and/or EC2
Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune OpenSearch cluster health, indexing throughput, and query performance
Collaborate with frontend teams building React-based search experiences
Participate in architectural discussions around search relevance, scalability, and data modeling
Support client search deployments, including environment setup, tuning, and ongoing optimization
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested backend code
Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
Qualification
Required
4+ years of experience in backend, search, or data-focused development
Hands-on experience with AWS OpenSearch (or Elasticsearch on AWS)
Strong understanding of search fundamentals: Indexing strategies, Mappings and analyzers, Query DSL and relevance scoring
Professional experience with C# / .NET 8
Experience building RESTful APIs (Lambda, API Gateway, or container-based services)
Experience ingesting and indexing data from multiple content sources, including databases, files, and external systems
Familiarity with AWS services, including: OpenSearch, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, ECS and/or EC2, AWS Glue
Experience deploying and supporting production search systems for clients
Solid understanding of distributed systems and performance optimization
Comfortable working in AWS cloud-native environments
Must be a U.S. Citizen and U.S. based
Preferred
Experience with OpenSearch Dashboards
Relevance tuning, scoring strategies, or custom analyzers
Frontend experience with React (search UI integration)
Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, etc.)
Knowledge of event-driven or streaming systems (SQS, SNS, Kafka, etc.)
Experience with web content ingestion, crawling, or structured content extraction
Experience securing search systems (IAM, VPCs, fine-grained access control)
