Start in 2026 SummerRoche is offering an outstanding opportunity for an intern to contribute to accelerating the drug discovery process. The internship will focus on developing novel human in vitro models to investigate the molecular mechanisms of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) while collaborating with researchers across departments.

Responsibilities
Contribute to a highly innovative project and collaborate productively with researchers across departments at Genentech
Design and perform cell culture experiments to contribute to new model development and characterization using molecular biology techniques, imaging, and bioengineering
Analyze and interpret experimental data to delineate the mechanisms underlying AMD biology
Present findings at group meetings and contribute to scientific discussions
Qualification
Required
Must have attained a Master's Degree
Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)
Required Majors: Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, or related fields
Experience with human cell culture, iPSC, or organoids
Skills in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, and state-of-the-art imaging methods, including fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, and image analysis software's
Ability to work independently, troubleshoot, and design experiments to address key project questions
Driven, passionate, and proactive with demonstrated ability to be highly motivated and work independently
Preferred
Experience in bioengineering or omics technologies
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
