Responsibilities
Own enterprise search platforms end-to-end: Stability, Performance, Relevancy, Scalability, Zero-downtime upgrades
Full Apache Solr administration across non-prod & prod
SolrCloud operations: ZooKeeper, shards, replicas, leader election
Deep JVM tuning (heap/off-heap, GC, memory leaks, thread pools)
High-volume indexing optimization (commit strategies, merge policies)
Search relevancy & query pipeline tuning
Cluster design, scaling, HA & security (TLS, RBAC)
Custom JAR deployments, patches, and platform upgrades
Troubleshooting CPU spikes, GC pauses, latency, throughput issues
Partnering with DevOps/SRE to embed observability into CI/CD
Capacity planning, benchmarking, and root-cause analysis
Qualification
Required
5–7 years of hands-on Apache Solr administration
Proven production SolrCloud ownership
JVM performance tuning expertise
Indexing & query performance optimization
Enterprise search platform support & stability mindset
Bachelor's degree required
Willing to work 3 days onsite in NYC
Preferred
Lucidworks Fusion (installation, ingestion/query pipelines, connectors)
Elasticsearch (PoCs or production)
Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack
Hadoop / Spark ingestion pipelines
