Payroll Assistant
Memorial Health is seeking a Payroll Assistant to maintain and process biweekly affiliate payrolls under the direction of the Payroll Manager. The role involves ensuring accurate employee payments, adhering to payroll rules and regulations, and embodying the organization's performance excellence standards.

Responsibilities
Shows knowledge of payroll procedures and Memorial Health System payroll policies
Assure that all applicable MHS affiliate payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner to meet established schedules that appropriate deductions are withheld and that direct deposit advices are available via the Health System’s employee intranet and checks are printed and mailed to employees in a timely manner
Resolve issues relating to employee’s pay in a timely and professional manner and in accordance with policies and procedures
Research inquiries from applicable MHS affiliate departments and employees regarding benefit balances (PTO and sick)

Reviews maintenance to applicable MHS affiliate employee benefits balances and assure accuracy by maintaining Lawson Absent Management error reporting
Assure that all garnishments, levies, and student loans that are received are processed per MHS policies and procedures in conjunction with government regulations as well as reconciliations at the close of each pay period
Assist department directors/managers and Time & Attendance Functional Service Administrator(s) (TA FSA) in understanding and applying various policies and guidelines in API
Prepare Memorial Child Care deductions for all affiliates
Assists in developing, reviewing and implementing payroll/personnel policies and procedures
Distribution of monthly, quarterly and on demand labor distribution reporting
Prepare payroll disbursements for the affiliate payrolls. Support the Disbursement Department by completing assigned tasks as requested
Qualification
Required
Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance or 3-5 years work experience in an Accounting/Finance area
Must be proficient with calculator and must have light typing skills
Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications
Must possess a high degree of organizational skills
Must possess high degree of analytical skills
Must possess excellent communication and human relations skills
Must have ability to understand the government rules and regulations
Preferred
Minimum two years payroll experience preferred
1-2 years work experience is preferred relating to garnishment, levy and student loan processing
