Responsibilities
Design and implement an aesthetic bundling standard for our existing harnesses to maximize visual quality and customer acceptance of the final product
Triage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Discrepancy Reports (DRDBs), and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for the Routed Systems team. Determine the impact of changes and document harness and connection requirements, including shielding and grounding requirements
Collaborate with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, optical engineers, and physicists on cross-functional solutions
Coordinate the activities of contract routed systems designers. Define routed systems deliverables for each project, make sure they are achieved on time and on budget, and assure that individual workloads are balanced
Use your knowledge of cable types, connector types, and harness materials to identify opportunities for value engineering
Support the entire lifecycle of subsystems and harnesses, including fabrication, troubleshooting, and testing; drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions based on documented failure analyses and equipment failures
Create technical documentation as required
Partner with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to identify areas of improvement, update drawings to eliminate supplier escapes, support vendor questions, and support MRB processes
Follow processes and procedures in compliance with our QMS, consistent within industry standards (eg TL9k)
Meet business Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience
3+ years of hands-on experience designing, fabricating, and/or testing wiring harnesses, preferably for scientific applications
Detailed and hands‐on knowledge of fabrication processes and workmanship criteria for cable harnesses in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620A
Technical expertise in capabilities, selection and qualification of components used in electrical and optical cable harness designs. Components include connectors, backshells, wire, contacts, splices, solder, overshields
Ability to read and understand datasheets for electronic components
Familiarity with mechanical CAD software tools such as SolidWorks
