Responsibilities
Lead inspectors or act as solo inspector for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway projects including measuring and calculating quantities
Document work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches
Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc
Ensure work is completed in accordance with NJDOT or other Agency specifications
Apply project plans along with company policies, guidelines, standards, and specifications to the work and implement independent decision making to progress the project
Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project
Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work
Lead other construction inspectors; providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED required
10+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience required
Valid US Driver's License required
Leadership skills, decision making, and attention to detail
Ability and willingness to work outdoors on a project site for extended period of time
Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions
Preferred
PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred
NICET Certification III/IV or NJDOT equivalent preferred
Prior experience with NJDOT and municipal clients preferred
