Responsibilities
Provide legal advice to the administration located in Columbus, financial audit staff across geographical regions of the state, as well as other departments of the AOS
Provide legal advice to HR on employment issues
Participate in transactional work of the office through contracting and procurement work
Participate in reviewing or drafting legislation affecting AOS
Conduct independent legal research
Provide comprehensive and clear legal advice verbally or in writing
Maintain the highest level of professionalism and ethical conduct in all aspects of work
Demonstrate an ability to effectively work collaboratively with lawyers and non-lawyers
Qualification
Required
Must be presently admitted to the Ohio bar
Experience: minimum of 4 years of licensure and continuous legal practice
Strong legal research and writing skills
Strong interpersonal communication and public speaking skills
Strong skills necessary for self-directed work including balancing assignments based upon due date and depth of research required
Strong collaborative work skills
Must have ability to travel. Position may require some limited travel to Columbus
Preferred
Prior experience representing state or local government
In-house legal counsel experience
Judicial clerkship experience
Knowledge of Westlaw for performing legal research
