Associate Distribution Engineer

Catapult Federal Services is seeking Distribution Designers in multiple offices across the U.S. The successful Associate Distribution Engineer will support the development of construction work packages for electric distribution systems and perform various engineering calculations and design tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities

Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV mostly associated with programmatic work such as overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports
Comply with Client Safety requirements as well as design and quality expectations
Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections and return to the office to perform engineering design work
Perform engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker
Develop permitting documents for different AHJ’s
Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met
Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design

Required

ABET-accredited Bachelors of Science in Engineering degree or Master's degree (EE or CE preferred) is required and 0+ years of prior relevant experience. Relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing design engineering
Must be comfortable in both a field office setting
Must be able to lift 20 pounds
Must be able to walk up to 2 miles on unpaved surfaces
Candidate must have valid U.S. driver's license and provide their own reliable transportation
Local customer/job-related travel is anticipated and will be reimbursed at IRS approved rates

Preferred

Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
Familiarity with PoleForeman, SAP, Microstation, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Visio
Fundamentals of Engineer Certifications
