Responsibilities

Review engineering designs, relay settings, drawings, and submittals for compliance with project specifications
Interpret technical documentation and provide clear recommendations
Submit and track applicable work requests as required
Lead commissioning activities on assigned projects with electrical and mechanical crews
Commission and test transmission and distribution substations, power equipment, protection relays, controls, communications, and pilot channel systems
Perform routine testing and maintenance on substation equipment
Document results and prepare commissioning and closeout reports
Identify and resolve electrical/mechanical issues during commissioning
Support on-site problem resolution in coordination with senior engineers and client teams
Participate in safety incident reviews and mitigation planning
Maintain accurate daily and final reports of commissioning activities
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and client requirements
Promote and support a strong safety culture
Monitor scope changes and report impacts to cost and schedule
Communicate progress, risks, and findings to clients and project leadership
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and third-party partners

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
3–6 years of relevant engineering or field experience (utility experience preferred)
Working knowledge of substation commissioning, protection & control systems, and testing practices
Familiarity with NEC, OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices, and PPE requirements
Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and schematics
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic field environment
Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification
Must pass background check, MVR, and required drug screenings
Valid driver's license and ability to travel
Combination of office and field work with frequent travel to project sites (primarily Georgia; short-term U.S. travel possible)
Work around energized equipment up to 500kV
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform switchyard operations
Occasional overtime and work in varying environmental conditions
