Unit Secretary - Med Surg 3

Responsibilities
Provides clerical support for the department and Interdisciplinary Team
Serves as Patient Experience Ambassador for the unit
Adapts to rapid changes in the unit / department in a positive, constructive manner
Assesses EPIC chart reports to ensure unit charges/utilization are maintained adequately
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style
Other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
Strong interpersonal skills
Thorough understanding of medical terminology
Self-directed and able to work independently
Ability to and experience exercising good judgment in handling difficult situations
Effective planning, organizing and time management skills
Preferred
Experience in the medical/healthcare industry
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
