PBX Operator

Responsibilities
Answer, screen, and route incoming calls in a courteous and timely manner
Provide general information including phone numbers, locations, and directions
Operate PBX paging systems, overhead paging, security radio, and fire panel
Register outpatient lab and direct admission patients accurately in Epic
Follow emergency codes, paging protocols, and assist Security during emergencies
Monitor incoming faxes, document emergency codes, and maintain accurate records
Qualification
Required
Experience answering and directing calls in a hospital or call center environment
Strong customer service skills using AIDET and service excellence principles
Ability to register patients accurately in Epic while following HIPAA guidelines
Clear verbal and written communication skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations
General computer skills including EMR systems and Microsoft Office
Minimum 6 months experience as a PBX operator, hospital operator, or call center agent
Strong customer service orientation and positive work ethic
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure
Ability to train and orient new staff
Reliable attendance and adherence to time and attendance policies
Preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese)
Hospital admitting or outpatient registration experience
Medical terminology knowledge or coursework
