Summer 2026 Field Engineering Internship

They are seeking a high-potential ex-military candidate for a Field Engineering Internship to gain foundational experience and provide value to Operations, Production Engineering, and Environmental/Regulatory teams.

Responsibilities
Learn day-to-day field operations, facility flow paths, artificial lift basics, and production rounds
Observe 4–5 different lease operators to understand tank battery layouts, chemical systems, and routine troubleshooting
Identify inefficiencies and provide process-improvement suggestions
Gather and validate tank levels, meter readings, ESP parameters, and chemical pump rates
Compare and reconcile field data against SCADA and Enerview
Support weekly discrepancy audits and well file standardization
Track downtime categories and trends
Monitor chemical injection logs and separator dump performance
Assist with flaring reduction by checking VRUs, dump valves, and thief hatches
Conduct SPCC and containment inspections
Assist with LDAR (non-instrumented checks) and basic OOOO/OOOOa/OOOO-b compliance tasks
Review flare logs, pit logs, and fluid transfer logs for accuracy
Support site safety briefings and hazard reporting
Audit chemical injection rates and help track corrosion coupon results
Perform basic water quality checks (salinity, iron, bacteria)
Build and maintain a chemical vendor performance scorecard
Conduct basic PM inspections on rotating equipment such as compressors, generators, and ESP surface equipment
Help organize and digitize PM schedules
Track repeat failures and assist with simple root cause summaries
Serve as field liaison for tools such as Boomerang, Enerview, and ProntoForms
Test workflows and gather user feedback for continuous improvement
Draft simple SOPs and quick-start guides for field personnel
Participate in gas lift system walkthroughs
Assist with pipeline pigging logs and pressure checks
Help QC run tickets and imbalance reports
Shadow AL Techs to learn artificial lift monitoring, ESP/rod lift diagnostics, and daily optimization workflows
Participate in well optimization reviews including SCADA trend analysis, setpoint adjustments, and daily/weekly production tech huddles
Conduct route reviews with operators to identify inefficiencies, excessive mileage, or opportunities for route automation
Attend RCA (Root Cause Analysis) meetings to learn structured problem-solving and document simple action item summaries
Assist production engineers with basic optimization tasks such as gathering runtimes, intake pressures, and downtime details
Verify tank labeling and battery line diagrams
Update P&IDs to reflect current facility conditions
Participate in facility walkdowns to identify housekeeping, safety, and emissions issues
Qualification
Required
High-potential ex-military candidate
Chemical engineering degree
Ability to learn day-to-day field operations
