Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical accounting and accounting policy resource for the Controller, CFO, and Finance leadership
Attend and contribute to meetings with the CFO and Executive Team regarding accounting implications of major business decisions, transactions, and strategic initiatives
Own accounting policy development and governance, including:
Creating, maintaining, and updating formal accounting policies
Driving consistency of interpretation and application across the organization
Maintaining a policy library and adoption roadmap for new standards
Research, interpret, and apply U.S. GAAP (ASC) and SEC requirements; monitor upcoming changes in guidance and evaluate their impact
Prepare and review technical accounting memos and supporting documentation for significant judgments and non-routine transactions, including positions subject to audit scrutiny
Provide guidance for banking and financial services accounting topics including:
Loans and allowance for credit losses (CECL / ASC 326)
Fair value measurement (ASC 820)
Derivatives and hedging (ASC 815)
Investments and debt securities
Business combinations (ASC 805)
Consolidations / VIEs (ASC 810)
Revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock comp (ASC 718)
Partner with SEC Reporting to support external reporting requirements, including:
Footnote and disclosure drafting support
Accounting policy disclosures and critical accounting estimates
Support for 10-Q/10-K filings and earnings-related disclosure needs
Strengthen SOX and internal control effectiveness by ensuring policies align with process controls and documentation requirements
Coordinate and support external audit engagement on policy issues and technical accounting positions
Provide training and guidance to cross-functional stakeholders (Accounting, FP&A, business leadership) on accounting policy updates and new guidance
Lead special projects related to new products, strategic investments, M&A, and financial instrument accounting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's preferred)
CPA required (or actively in process)
4+ years progressive experience in technical accounting / accounting policy
Proven ability to draft well-supported technical accounting memos and present conclusions to senior stakeholders
Preferred
Experience in public company reporting and SOX environment strongly preferred
Financial services / banking experience preferred (or audit/advisory experience serving FS clients)
