Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support control systems and switchgear for wire drawing lines, coilers, and associated equipment using Allen‑Bradley / Rockwell platforms
Develop and maintain PLC and HMI software using RSLogix 500 / 5000 and FactoryTalk View
Select, integrate, and commission drives and motor systems 90-100KW (AC induction, torque, and servo motors). Experience with 90-100KW motors and heavy continuous flow machinery
Create and review electrical schematics and system documentation using AutoCAD Electrical; collaborate with mechanical engineers using SolidWorks
Own electrical and automation scope across projects from concept and design through commissioning and handover
Work closely with sales, manufacturing, service, and field teams to deliver technically sound and customer‑focused solutions
Support factory testing, switchgear acceptance, and field commissioning, including troubleshooting when required
Act as a technical reference and mentor for junior and mid‑level engineers
Gradually take responsibility for task coordination, technical reviews, and prioritization within the engineering team
Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, tools, and processes
Prepare to assume people‑leadership responsibilities (team leadership, performance support, hiring input) as part of a planned transition into an Engineering Manager role
Maintain accurate and structured design documentation, software revisions, and technical specifications
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and standardization across electrical and automation designs

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Controls, or similar technical discipline
7+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation or controls engineering
Strong proficiency with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLC and HMI systems
Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, DH+, or DH485
Solid understanding of drive systems (e.g. Siemens, Yaskawa, ABB, Lenze, Rockwell, Parker SSD / Eurotherm, Control Techniques)
Practical knowledge of industrial electrical standards (NEC/CSA, UL508A, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, NFPA 70E)
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary team

Preferred

Experience with additional PLC platforms such as Siemens Step 7 / TIA Portal, B&R Automation, Direct Logic, or Direct Soft
Exposure to mechanical systems integration and industrial machinery
Previous experience as a technical lead, project lead, or mentoring engineer
Interest and aptitude for people leadership and engineering management
Master's degree in electronics, controls, or drives, or equivalent industry experience
