Responsibilities
Own and help drive the user research roadmap for Mailgun ensuring insights directly inform product direction and roadmap decisions
Plan and lead qualitative and quantitative research across the full customer lifecycle, including onboarding, activation, retention, upgrade, and more
Conduct a range of research activities such as customer interviews, usability testing, concept validation, survey design, data analysis, and competitive benchmarking
Partner closely with Product Management to translate research insights into clear opportunity areas, hypotheses, and measurable outcomes with clear communication and written documentation to stakeholders understand insights and implications
Work hands-on with Product and Engineering to design, prototype, test, and refine solutions that address growth opportunities, from rapid experimentation to polished, production-ready designs
Leverage AI-assisted design and research tools to increase speed and throughput, including tools like Figma Make alongside traditional design workflows
Contribute to and evolve shared design systems, patterns, and standards to ensure consistency, scalability, and accessibility across the Mailgun experience
Qualification
Required
Significant experience as a Senior Product Designer working on complex SaaS or developer-focused products, with ownership of end-to-end design processes
Strong background in user research, including designing and leading research programs aligned to business and growth goals
Proven ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insights that shape product strategy and design decisions
Fluency in modern design and prototyping tools, with deep expertise in Figma and comfort adopting AI-powered tools to accelerate ideation
Effective cross-functional collaborator, partnering closely with Product Managers and Engineers and communicating clearly across disciplines and time zones
Strong understanding of usability, accessibility, and inclusive design principles, applied consistently in day-to-day work
Preferred
Experience in growth-focused teams, onboarding flows, activation funnels, or PLG environments preferred; familiarity with email, messaging, or CPaaS platforms is a plus
