Responsibilities
Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to their area of expertise
Provides technical engineering expertise to Project Managers, engineers and/or clients to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions
Reviews, analyzes and resolves field and/or design issues
Provides expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices
Serves as the technical specialist on engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications
Is active in technical societies
Publishes engineering papers and/or articles
Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications
Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work
Assists in coordinating project schedules and timely completion of projects
Assists in ensuring that external client focus is top priority of the region and those systems, processes, and activities that focus on the client at all levels of the region are implemented
Provides technical leadership in the pursuit process, including proposal preparation, estimating project costs, contract negotiations, project quality, and project profitability
Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours
Provides leadership to project teams and support staff
Supervises all staff necessary to complete assignments
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university
10 years or more progressive experience in project engineering
Experience in the inspection and/or design of, but not limited to, bridges, roadways, railroads, marinas, and/or ports
Maintains competency in and serves as major firm resource in field of expertise
Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) required
