NEOGOV is seeking an Accounting Technician 1 to support the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation within the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The role involves processing payments, researching transactions, and providing guidance on fiscal policies to ensure financial integrity.

Responsibilities

Process a high volume of payments to vendors and program participants
Researching transactions in the Division’s case management system as well as the State accounting system
Provides guidance to field staff regarding fiscal policies and practices

Required

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month)
Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer's accountability
Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary
Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately
Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals
Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization
