Responsibilities
Lead all project financing activities for BESS projects, including debt, tax equity, and structured finance solutions
Develop and execute financing strategies aligned with project development timelines and corporate objectives
Evaluate optimal capital structures considering market conditions, risk allocation, and returns
Build, review, and manage detailed project finance models (construction and operating models)
Analyze sensitivities around revenue, merchant exposure, tolling agreements, LC requirements, and contract structures
Support investment committee and board-level materials related to financing decisions
Serve as the primary point of contact for lenders, tax equity investors, and financial advisors
Manage due diligence processes, including data rooms, lender questions, and third-party reports
Lead financing negotiations through term sheet, credit approval, and financial close
Work closely with Development and Engineering teams to ensure bankable project structures
Coordinate with EPCs, offtakers, and consultants to align technical, commercial, and financial assumptions
Support portfolio-level financing strategies and capital planning
Track market trends in BESS finance, tax incentives, and energy storage revenue models
Assist with M&A, asset sales, or refinancing opportunities as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred)
8–12+ years of project finance experience, with direct battery storage (BESS) financing experience required
Strong understanding of storage revenue structures (merchant, tolling, hybrid, capacity, ancillary services)
Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel
Proven experience closing complex project financings
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior lenders, investors, and internal stakeholders
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Preferred
Experience with utility-scale standalone and hybrid (solar + storage) projects
Familiarity with tax credits and incentive structures applicable to energy storage
