Responsibilities

Direct and administer the development and implementation of all Centers’ activities, such as workshops, conferences and other events. Some examples include: securing and reporting on funding, writing all semi-annual reports on CRRC activities required by funding agencies, informing external audiences about Centers’ activities, coordinating with stakeholders, spearheading strategic planning and program evaluations
Oversee office systems to ensure compliance, accessibility and efficiency
Provide oversight and management for the day-to-day operation of the Centers’ office
Integrate the mission and work of the Centers with the university programs
Hire and supervise contract project managers, other staff and undergraduate students who support the Centers’ research and other activities. Hire and coordinate graduate student work that supports the Centers’ research
Handle all Human Resources functions – payroll reporting, position descriptions, and increases for the Centers’ staff and students
Review and recommend changes in operational processes and procedures in order to achieve the strategic goals of each Center
Work with Directors and Advisory Boards on issues of the Centers’ policies, activities and procedures
Managing and note-taking of numerous and varied stakeholder (virtual and in-person) meetings
Manage additional special projects as assigned by the Centers’ Directors
Good oral and written communication skills along with budgeting and financial skills
Design, implement and manage online presence of each Center, including website and other social media. Establish and manage relationships with internal and external media and press
Design and produce print materials, including marketing, informational and conference materials
Prepare and publish research reports and activity reports for a variety of audiences, both nationally and internationally. Source information from Centers’ research, set priorities for messages, and develop and deliver content
Communicate effectively using a variety of methods, including email, webinars, conference calls, and conferences with university staff, external national and international stakeholders and partners
Manage, update, design the CRRC web presence via UNH platform Drupal
Cultivate and manage relationships with a diverse group of key stakeholders in both public and private sectors, including state and federal agencies, state and national legislative offices, nonprofits/NGOs, and university personnel. Coordinate all visits by external stakeholders to project site locations and UNH
Serve as liaison between federal agencies, the university and the Centers
Travel to various regions to conduct (average 6 annually) workshops, cultivate relationships, and upgrade relevant knowledge
Represent the centers with key groups such as the Spills Advisory Group (SAG)
Manage all aspects of approximately 20 grants/contracts (both federal and private agencies), estimated at $1M annually. This is an average over the last 5 years for both Centers
Ensure compliance with all funding agency regulations, and with USCH policies and procedures. Analyze project financial reports to ensure spending is aligned with budget
Monitor each grant/contract for compliance with sponsor’s terms and conditions. Prepare agreements and report of results for contracting agencies
On behalf of the Directors, collaborate with UNH Sponsored Programs Administration and STAR Research Administration. Prepare grant solicitations for CRRC annual funding and major 5-year CRRC grant in response to NOAA’s BAA for review by CRRC Directors/PIs. Submit progress reports via GrantsOnline. Develop pre-award budgets for proposals
Forecast and manage annual UNH operational budgets for salaries, fringe, supplies, graduate assistant tuition and undergraduate hourly pay, insurance, travel, and other expenses including laboratory equipment purchases. Coordinate with USNH Contracts and Sourcing Procurement for bidding of necessary job support
Develop annual PI account budget for personnel, equipment and facilities expenses, and monitor all expenditures

Required

Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience or associate's degree and four years of related experience
Supervisory ability and knowledge of administrative management methods and principles
Specialized skills in training, research, and/or other areas as required by department
Ability to work effectively with staff, faculty and the public
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills, including managing competing priorities
Comprehensive knowledge of office practices and computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with Zoom and/or Teams for virtual meetings, webinars, or online training events, including use of virtual breakout rooms and recording
Excellent time management, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team
Will require travel to workshops, conferences, and field sites
This position is supported by external sponsor funding. As such, continued employment in this role is contingent upon the availability of those external funds
