Platform Director
Solü Technology Partners is seeking a Director of Platform Services responsible for building and operating secure, scalable platforms that drive business outcomes. This role involves defining platform strategy, leading a high-performing team, and overseeing various platform initiatives including application development, analytics, and governance.
Responsibilities
Set and execute the platform vision – Define a multi-year roadmap across Application Development, Adaptive Planning, Power Platform, and Analytics/Power BI; establish success metrics, capacity plans, and a value realization framework aligned to enterprise priorities
Lead a high-performing platform team – Recruit, coach, and develop engineering managers and administrators; cultivate a culture of reliability, security, and continuous improvement; provide clear goals, feedback, and recognition
Modern application development enablement – Establish reference architectures, reusable components, and API/integration patterns; mature CI/CD and DevSecOps practices (automated testing, security scans, deployment gates); improve observability and SRE practices (SLOs, error budgets, on-call)
Workday Adaptive Planning (planning and forecasting) – Define environment strategy (Prod/Test/Dev/Sandbox), release calendars, and change control aligned to forecast and close cycles; oversee integrations, data quality, and access controls
Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) – Define environment strategy (Dev/Test/Prod/Sandbox), data loss prevention (DLP) policies, solution-based ALM, and platform monitoring
Analytics platform – Microsoft Fabric and Power BI – Define tenant and workspace governance; manage capacity (Premium/Fabric), gateways, and performance optimization
Blue Yonder platform – Define environment strategy (Prod/Test/Dev/Sandbox), release calendars, and change control aligned to demand and supply cycles; oversee integrations, data quality, and access controls
Platform reliability and security – Define and implement availability, resilience, and security posture across platforms; lead incident and problem management, disaster recovery, patching, and vulnerability remediation in partnership with Security, GRC, and Infrastructure teams
Democratize with guardrails – Deliver self-service frameworks for makers and analysts (patterns, components, guidelines, knowledge base); measure and improve time-to-value while reducing risk
Build business relationships – Maintain trusted relationships with senior leadership and key functions (Finance/FP&A, Data and Analytics, Security, IT Operations, HR, Commercial); translate platform initiatives into clear business outcomes and executive-ready narratives
Own project and budget management – Prioritize roadmaps and backlogs; manage vendor partners and statements of work to deliver on time and within budget; oversee platform operating expenses
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field required
12+ years of experience in enterprise platforms and/or application development with progressively increasing scope and impact
7+ years of experience leading engineering or platform teams and managing budgets, including matrixed or remote teams
5+ years administering and governing Microsoft Power Platform (environment strategy, DLP, ALM, monitoring, licensing)
5+ years owning or administering Power BI (tenant and workspace governance, semantic model standards, deployment pipelines, capacity management)
3+ years owning or closely partnering on Workday Adaptive Planning (model governance, environment and release strategy, integrations, and data quality)
Strong DevOps and DevSecOps background, including CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality gates, with a solid understanding of SRE and ITIL practices for production operations
Proven experience managing vendors, partners, and statement-of-work engagements
Technical expertise includes: Microsoft Azure and Entra ID; Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, AI features) and Dataverse; Blue Yonder; Power BI and Microsoft Fabric (Premium capacities, gateways); API management and integration patterns; Git/GitHub or Azure DevOps; monitoring and observability tools (Application Insights, Log Analytics); familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning administration and data integrations
