IT Business Analyst: Public Safety
City of Fredericksburg, Virginia is seeking an IT Business Analyst for Public Safety to support and enhance public safety systems. The role involves technical and analytical tasks, including configuring and troubleshooting applications, running reports, and collaborating with various personnel and agencies.
Responsibilities
Helping configure, support, and troubleshoot essential public safety applications such as Computer Aided-Dispatch (CAD), and Records Management Systems (RMS), Mobile and in-car applications and Next-Generation 911 (NG911)
Gaining a clear understanding of Police, Fire/EMS, and Dispatch workflows operate and aligning systems to better support operational needs
Running reports and basic queries to support state and federal reporting
Assisting with system upgrades, testing, and user training
Working with vendors to resolve issues and improve system performance
Creating documentation, user guides, and training materials
Identify and implement operational and technological enhancements
Develop documentation and manage small projects
Participate in larger technology initiatives
Collaborate with personnel and agencies, exercising initiative and independent judgment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Criminal Justice, or a related field
One (1) year of experience in software configuration, application support, or related IT operations
Ability to pass a Police background investigation
Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license
Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred
Proficiency in programming languages and software tools, including SQL, reporting and GIS-supported systems
Familiarity with public safety technology and cyber security standards
