Benefits Assistant
Buckner International is seeking a Benefits Assistant to join their People Operations team. This role involves providing administrative support for employee benefits and compensation programs, including processing benefit transactions, managing inquiries, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
Process benefit transactions such as enrollments, life events, terminations, and employment status changes in alignment with plan rules, ERISA, and HIPAA requirements
Monitor the Benefits email inbox, timely reply to inquiries and escalate inquiries to Total Rewards Coordinator or Total Rewards Manager as needed
Efficiently process incoming and outgoing Total Rewards mail
Compile retiree payments for deposit including recording on Retiree payment log. Perform administrative tasks related to Retiree benefit processing
Assist with Total Rewards and People Operations-related surveys
Assist with new hire benefits onboarding presentations
Maintain well-organized digital and physical records, documentation, and filing systems
Upload various documents to employee records in the HRIS
Assist with benefits audits, reconciliations and compliance reporting
In collaboration with Internal Communication and external vendors, support Total Rewards communications, resources and education materials for employees
Administer the organization’s recognition program
Complete the employer’s portion of benefits-related claims forms
Provide support on special projects and initiatives led by the Total Rewards team
Stay updated on legislative changes and ensure that all programs remain compliant with regulatory standards
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 1 years of experience in compensation, benefits, and/or total rewards programs required
General knowledge of compensation practices, employee benefits, and legal compliance (e.g., FLSA, ACA, ERISA)
Proficiency in HRIS systems and compensation management software
Ability to work collaboratively
Strong communication skills to interface with employees at all levels within the organization as well as external vendors and agencies
Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Office applications and other software
General knowledge of federal and state employment laws related to the design and implementation of health and welfare plans
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Travel domestically, as needed, to monitor, assess, and help develop programs

Preferred
Benefits or HR certification (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, CCP, CEBS)
Experience working with remote based employees
