Responsibilities

Perform all steps required to manufacture aerospace-grade composite parts in accordance with engineering requirements and quality standards
Cut carbon fiber materials using hand tools to tight tolerances
Execute composite bonding operations, including surface abrasion, cleaning, adhesive preparation, application, and bondline control
Perform hand lamination of composite materials, including carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar, film adhesives, and foam or metallic core structures
Set up and execute full vacuum bag cure cycles, including instrumentation setup, debulking, and monitoring oven cure runs
Cure materials in accordance with manufacturer specifications and documented process requirements
Handle, track, and document materials in compliance with AS9100 and internal quality requirements
Identify and perform scarf repairs, including locating and removing scarfed plies as required
Support concept-of-operations and tooling design discussions for new and future products
Partner with Engineering to improve composite bonding processes, fabrication methods, and product designs
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, quality, and repeatability within composite fabrication operations

Required

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with a strong understanding of precision assembly techniques
High attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship in all phases of assembly and fabrication
Proven ability to drill, locate, and lay out precision holes to tight tolerances
Proficiency in the use of pneumatic tools, hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments
Ability to read, interpret, and execute drilling, lamination, and assembly drawings and work instructions
Experience working with material data sheets and process specifications
Strong commitment to shop organization, cleanliness, and standard work practices
Consistent use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to safety procedures
