Responsibilities

Serve as a Network Engineer – Virtualization Specialist supporting network build-out and deployments to the C2BMC Test Facility in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
Work on complex assignments and perform a wide range of VMware system administration activities with minimal supervision
Provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical technical issues
Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity professionals to maintain a high-quality test environment for the Government customer
Perform vulnerability remediation and implement mitigations to reduce cybersecurity risks and ensure compliance with DoD standards
Conduct daily system monitoring, system backups, restorations, and application upgrades to maintain optimal system performance
Document system changes and actions in designated systems of record to ensure accurate historical tracking per customer and mission requirements
Advise the Government customer on system status, optimization efforts, and improvements in alignment with program objectives and design baselines
Utilize the REMEDY ticketing system to report, track, and document problem resolution activities throughout the lifecycle of system issues

Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance in a reasonable timeframe
Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (ex., Security + CE, CySA, etc.)
10 or more years of general, full-time work experience
7 or more years of directly related experience
1 or more years of experience working in a management or leadership position
Ability to support a 2nd shift assignment
Experience with Internet Protocols (e.g., DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL) and firewall configuration and troubleshooting
Effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio
Deep understanding of foundational VCF infrastructure, including Virtualization (vSphere), Networking (NSX), and Storage (vSAN)
Ability to use SDDC Manager to patch, upgrade, and perform overall system maintenance
Fundamental understanding of traffic flow through logical routers and the ability to implement these concepts in an NSX environment
Skilled in configuring distributed stateful firewalling, NAT, load balancing, and micro-segmentation using NSX
Experience creating and configuring virtual distributed switches
Experience with the design, installation, upgrading, and migration of storage using VMware vSAN
Ability to migrate virtual machines and workloads from deprecated versions of vSphere to VMware Cloud Foundation
Strong understanding of VMware troubleshooting and configuration, including protocols, switching, best-practice configurations, connectivity, and networking concepts
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with other network engineers, as well as independently on large-scale projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience briefing customers and management

Preferred

Experience with PIM, Layer 2 and Layer 3 multicast, and Type I encryption devices
Experience with VXLAN, Juniper Apstra, VMware Aria, and RHEL Ansible
VMware certifications such as VCTA–Data Center Virtualization, VCP-DCV, VCAP Design, VCAP Deploy, or VCDX-DCV
Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems, and MDIOC operations
Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA)
Experience with network monitoring tools and processes
Experience with Python or PowerShell programming and scripting
Degree in an IT or Engineering-related discipline
