Project Accountant
Placement Club is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support financial operations for a complex infrastructure project in the United States. The role involves managing project-level accounting, financial reporting, cost tracking, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements and accounting standards.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day project accounting activities, including cost tracking, job cost reports, and general ledger entries
Process and review accounts payable and receivable related to the project, including subcontractor invoices and owner billings
Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close activities for the project
Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, and variance analyses for project leadership and corporate accounting
Assist with budget setup, cost coding, and alignment with project controls systems
Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company policies, and applicable accounting standards
Support change order tracking, retention, and revenue recognition in coordination with project management
Assist with audits, financial reviews, and documentation requests
Maintain accurate and organized financial records for the project lifecycle
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, infrastructure, or engineering environments
Strong understanding of project accounting, job cost accounting, and construction financial processes
Experience working with accounting and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Viewpoint, or similar)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to work onsite in Sausalito and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Preferred
Experience on large-scale public infrastructure or heavy civil construction projects
Familiarity with union labor, retention, progress billings, and public agency requirements
CPA or progress toward CPA certification
