Responsibilities

Interviews complainants, subjects, and other appropriate witnesses
Collects and analyzes corroborative evidence, perform various record searches, review legal documents, review financial data, prepare and serve subpoenas, notices to cease and desist, notices of non-compliance, citations, administrative complaints, and other administrative processes as required
Mediates complaints when appropriate pursuant to Division of Regulation’s policy and procedures
Writes comprehensive reports including a chronological presentation of facts and testimony in the prescribed report format used by the Division of Regulation
Testifies truthfully in depositions, criminal, civil and administrative hearings when called upon
Perform preliminary investigations in a timely manner to determine the legal sufficiency needed to pursue a full and formal investigation pursuant to division policies
Perform supplemental investigations in a timely manner as directed by the Office of General Counsel or other supervisory personnel within the chain of command pursuant to division policies
Respond to reported unlicensed activities of regulated professions pursuant to division policies
Conducts covert sting operations, sweeps, or other proactive enforcement efforts in conjunction with various regulatory and law enforcement agencies to combat the unlicensed practice of regulated professions
Engaging in outreach programs to various governmental agencies, professional associations, trade shows, schools and consumer groups
Provide constructive and positive information to such groups of DBPR’s responsibilities and enforcement activities
Participate in Department directed and approved public relation activities, to include media ride-a-longs
Develops and maintains relationships with other federal, state, county and city governmental entities
Interact and coordinate with these entities to respond to natural or man-made disasters or emergencies
Uses these relationships to aid in the enforcement of statutes and rules governing various regulated practices

Required

Four (4) or more years' of regulatory-related experience
Investigative experience
Experience formatting, editing, and creating comprehensive investigative reports using Microsoft Word
A valid Florida Driver's License is required
Ability to work flexible hours with regional travel and occasional overnight travel
The candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both in verbal and written forms
Possess analytical skills necessary to identify violations of statutes and rules, and identify elements of the alleged violations
Must be proficient in the use of computers
Proficient in windows based computer software programs, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely in different driving environments
Ability to work flexible hours within the regional boundaries and occasional overnight travel within the state of Florida

Preferred

Bachelors' degree from an accredited college or university in a regulatory-related field
Associates' degree (in any field) & 2 years regulatory-related experience
Applicants who are bilingual in both English and Spanish
Applicants with knowledge of Construction, Cosmetology, Barber, Community Association Management, and Veterinary Medicine Industry
One (1) or more year experience writing detailed reports
One (1) or more year experience conducting investigations
