Vice President, Strategic Communications and Engagement
The Shalom Hartman Institute is a leading research and educational center serving Israel and World Jewry. The Vice President of Strategic Communications and Engagement will guide the Institute’s strategy for public voice and brand, manage a communications team, and elevate stakeholder engagement through effective marketing and communications.

Responsibilities
Supervise a diverse national communications team toward individual and collaborative excellence
Strategically increase impact of all marketing strategies, including growing social media platform presence, managing our website, measure and analyze success and impact of all marketing interventions, data and systems
Work collaboratively with leadership of Hartman Digital, Development, and Program teams toward collective success
Create and implement strategy to support SHI NA’s programmatic goals by supervising the production of and developing a broad range of marketing materials and channels including collateral, ad strategy, email, social media, and YouTube in collaboration with program and development team leadership
Partner with program directors to devise a strategy to recruit participants, promote educational tools, and engage stakeholders with Hartman content
Develop and implement strategy to develop and expand SHI NA brand value, including print and digital collateral as needed, in partnership with development
Monitor and manage brand and reputation (including crisis management)
Supervise our annual report and drive our end of year campaign in partnership with the Development department
Ensure that SHI NA’s public programs tell the story of the Institute by partnering with colleagues in program, development, and research, in both North America and Israel
Increase impact of SHI thought leadership through developing marketing, dissemination, and evaluation strategies for our public curricula, digital products, and written media
Develop and sustain relationships and partnerships with journalists and media outlets to strategically disseminate Hartman ideas, and to work with specialists and consultants as needed
Qualification
Required
Minimum 20 years of experience in strategy and strategic marketing, including senior leadership roles in complex organizations
Strong strategic conceptualization tools, including guiding team members to approach tactical work in alignment to strategic objectives
Excellent communication skills including experience in editing, writing, and public speaking
Deep understanding of major issues facing Israel and North American Jewish life and communal tensions regarding Israeli politics; a commitment to SHI's values-based approach
Passion for driving new thinking and innovation to elevate organizational growth
Demonstrated success in guiding organizations through the process of defining and implementing brand narrative
Experience managing outside consultant resources, budgets, and deliverables
Experience in communicating with major donors and executive stakeholders
Willingness to execute tactically alongside team members
Flexible work style with the ability to work under tight deadlines and with shifting priorities in a dynamic, high-energy environment
Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented with a strong professional demeanor
Good sense of humor
MA or equivalent
Willingness to travel, including stays of 7-10 days (potentially more) to Jerusalem twice a year
