Regional Accounting Manager

The Regional Accounting Manager serves as the GAAP accounting and process leader for one of the regions, overseeing the accounting team and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day accounting activities across the region’s entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and AIR policies
Manage all aspects of general ledger management, including journal entry approval, account reconciliations, and posting accuracy
Review and approve significant and non-routine journal entries
Ensure intercompany transactions and eliminations are accurately recorded and reconciled
Prepare or review consolidated regional financial statements and provide flux/variance analysis
Review month-end accruals, roll-forwards, and account reconciliations to validate completeness
Maintain and enforce a consistent regional close calendar and checklist in coordination with the RFC
Serve as the region’s subject matter expert on GAAP accounting matters, including revenue recognition, accruals, payroll accounting, and benefits
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and AIR accounting policies
Partner with Corporate Accounting on complex or non-recurring transactions
Manage sales and use tax filings, exemption certificate reviews, and ensure compliance with local and state requirements
Maintain documentation of accounting policies and provide training to staff as standards evolve
Support external and internal audit activities by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation requests
Lead, develop, and mentor a GAAP accounting team of 3–7 professionals
Assign and review work, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to close deadlines
Provide coaching and development to strengthen the team’s accounting depth, problem-solving, and system proficiency
Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture aligned with AIR’s values of precision, partnership, and performance
Coordinate team workload around monthly close, audits, and special projects
Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and standardize accounting processes across entities
Collaborate with the RFC and Corporate Systems team to optimize ERP (Oracle) workflows, templates, and reporting tools
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting functions to ensure consistency and scalability
Participate in finance transformation initiatives, helping strengthen regional controls and close efficiency
Partner with the FP&A and Operations teams to ensure accounting data accurately supports financial analysis, management reporting, and EBITDA performance
Review and approve commission calculations and payments for sales personnel
Approve new vendor setups, vendor applications, and payment runs in accordance with policy
Oversee bonus, benefits, and payroll accruals, ensuring completeness and accuracy
Support the collections process as needed, helping resolve billing or customer payment issues
Lead the regional accounting team through a 5–7 day close process, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met
Review all reconciliations and journal entries prepared by staff; escalate or resolve issues timely
Review and deliver analytical flux and balance sheet analysis for the region
Support the RFC and RFL in the preparation of regional reporting packages and management EBITDA schedules
Ensure accurate bank reconciliations, cash reporting, and payment approvals throughout the month

Required

6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in management or supervisory roles
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control best practices
Proven success managing accounting functions for multi-entity or decentralized organizations
Hands-on experience with month-end close, consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and financial statement preparation
Experience with ERP and reporting systems (Oracle, NetSuite, Power BI, or similar)
Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across finance, operations, and corporate functions
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop accounting teams in high-growth, fast-paced environments
