Responsibilities

Design and develop custom mechanical systems and automated machinery from concept through production deployment
Lead mechanical design and integration of robotics systems including Cartesian robots, SCARA robots, EOAT, pick-and-place systems, conveyors, cam-driven mechanisms, index and dwell machines, and custom tooling
Design and fabricate custom mechanical fixtures, linkages, cam systems, and specialty equipment for automated manufacturing
Perform detailed mechanical analyses including kinematic and dynamic analysis, mechanism design, tolerance stack-ups, stress analysis, and cycle time calculations
Develop equipment layouts and automation cells using 3D CAD; generate detailed part, assembly, and layout drawings
Create designs compliant with ASME Y14.5 GD&T and applicable ANSI and ISO machine design standards
Collaborate closely with controls engineers to support integrated electro-mechanical system design and debugging
Manage vendors and machine builders; conduct design reviews, FATs, SATs, and prototype evaluations
Support scale-up of automation platforms from development through commercial manufacturing
Provide hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and support during equipment build, commissioning, and production ramp-up
Optimize mechanical designs to improve reliability, throughput, repeatability, and maintainability
Develop and maintain mechanical documentation including BOMs, assembly instructions, and engineering change documentation
Characterize equipment performance using data and statistical methods to ensure consistent operation

Required

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
5–10+ years of experience designing custom machinery, automation equipment, or robotic systems
Strong hands-on experience with robotics integration, mechanical automation, and custom machine design
Proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks; experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is a plus
Experience designing cam systems, linkages, EOAT, fixtures, and specialty tooling
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support automated mechanical systems on the manufacturing floor
Strong technical communication skills and ability to work independently across multiple projects

Preferred

Familiarity with regulated manufacturing environments (GMP, biotech, or medical device) preferred
