Part Time Special Project Manager

The American Heart Association is seeking a Part-Time Special Project Manager to support a three-year initiative aimed at strengthening stroke care in Hawai‘i. The role focuses on increasing access to culturally relevant education and improving stroke literacy among diverse populations.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with community leaders and groups with lived experience to understand cultural beliefs, health literacy levels and perceptions of stroke and hypertension
Assess community familiarity with existing stroke acronyms (e.g., F.A.S.T., BE-FAST) and support the transcreation of culturally resonant alternatives
Co-develop culturally relevant educational materials, including visuals, acronyms and messaging tailored to each priority population
Manage translation/transcreation process of materials to ensure materials are linguistically accurate, culturally sensitive and suitable for both community education and professional training (EMS, health care providers
Work with the Association’s internal cross-functional teams to ensure cultural insights are integrated
Identify and engage Association expert volunteers, stroke survivors and community partners to amplify campaign messages
Conduct cultural relevancy assessments of educational materials
Collect and synthesize qualitative feedback from communities to inform ongoing improvements

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Fluency in Tagalog, Ilocano, Chuukese or Samoan required. High proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing in at least one of these languages
Two (2) years of the following experience:
Translation/transcreation and health material development for multicultural audiences
Public health program development and implementation
Conceptualizing culturally tailored program/product design
Community engagement with AANHPI populations
