Workday Financials Project Manager
The Squires Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Workday Financials Project Manager to support a large-scale, multi-agency Workday Financials implementation within a state government environment. This role will provide overall project leadership and client engagement while guiding clients through transformational change in a highly consultative manner.
Responsibilities
Serve as the Workday Financials Project Manager, providing senior-level leadership across planning, execution, and delivery for a state government implementation
Lead day-to-day project management activities, including scope management, schedule tracking, risk and issue management, and dependency coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for multiple state agency stakeholders, fostering strong, trusted client relationships
Facilitate project governance, status reporting, steering committee updates, and executive-level communications
Partner closely with Workday Financials functional leads technical teams, integrations, and reporting resources
Guide clients through each phase of the Workday implementation lifecycle, including design, configuration, testing, cutover, go-live, and post–go-live stabilization
Educate and advise client stakeholders in a highly consultative manner, helping them understand Workday Financials capabilities, implementation best practices, and change impacts
Support cross-agency alignment, ensuring consistent processes, decisions, and communication across a complex public-sector environment
Proactively identify risks and mitigation strategies, ensuring delivery remains aligned with program objectives and timelines
Qualification
Required
Extensive experience as a Workday Project Manager, with demonstrated success leading complex Workday implementations
State government experience is strongly preferred and considered key for this role
Prior experience managing Workday Financials implementations is a significant plus; state-level Workday Financials experience is a bullseye, though not required
Strong understanding of Workday implementation methodologies and governance models
Proven ability to manage large, multi-stakeholder programs with multiple agencies or business units
Exceptional client-facing skills, including the ability to actively listen, navigate competing priorities, and build credibility with senior stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to executive and steering committee audiences
Demonstrated ability to educate clients and guide decision-making in a collaborative, advisory capacity
Preferred
Prior leadership role on a large-scale Workday Financials program
Experience working within public-sector, state government, or highly regulated environments
Familiarity with legacy ERP environments (e.g., PeopleSoft) and guiding clients through ERP-to-Workday transitions
Background supporting long-term programs that include post–go-live stabilization and hypercare
