Responsibilities
Transform data into meaningful insights that support departmental operations and strategic decision-making
Produce dynamic, recurring dashboards and reports using Excel and Power BI
Distribute visualizations to executive leadership and external partners to inform decisions and track performance
Conduct business process reviews to identify operational efficiencies across the department
Perform site visits, employee interviews, and process mapping to develop recommendations that improve workflow and support staffing decisions
Lead the implementation of new technologies, participating in every phase from procurement and system design to training and deployment
Respond to Public Records Act requests and other data inquiries on behalf of the department
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency; AND, two (2) years of full-time professional level experience performing data analysis and research activities to support program, policy, and/or operational decision-making; OR
Six (6) years of full-time professional level experience performing data analysis and research activities to support program, policy, and/or operational decision-making
A master's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience; OR, additional years of experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
Experience in SQL
Experience building interactive dashboards (e.g., filters/slicers, drill-downs, cross-highlighting, tooltips) to support decision-making
Experience creating calculated fields/measures (e.g., DAX in Power BI, Level of Detail (LOD) expressions or table calculations in Tableau) to operationalize KPI's
Experience connecting dashboards to multiple data sources (e.g., SQL databases, flat files, API's) and designing a data model (e.g., star schema, relationships, data types) to ensure accurate visuals
Experience communicating insights to nontechnical audiences using data storytelling principles (e.g., appropriate chart selection, annotation, layout, highlighting key findings)
