Cash Accountant
Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Cash Accountant responsible for managing the accounting and reconciliation of cash transactions related to non-research activities. The role involves ensuring accurate recording of cash receipts, timely application of payments, and compliance with institutional policies and accounting standards.

Responsibilities
Records, reconciles, and monitors all cash receipts and disbursements related to non-research activities
Ensures timely and accurate posting of payments, wire transfers, checks, and ACH transactions
Researches unidentified or misapplied payments and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with affiliate, accounting and other finance staff
Reconciles cash activity to the general ledger and affiliate, investment and/or borrowing accounts on a regular basis
Prepares monthly reconciliations of non-research-related cash accounts and supporting documentation
Ensures compliance with GAAP and institutional policies
Supports the preparation of financial statements, internal reports, and audit schedules
Supports audit requests by preparing documentation
Monitors accounts for overpayments, underpayments, or compliance issues and take corrective actions as needed
Partners with cash accountants from other departments – research and departmental finance teams to ensure accurate cash application and reporting
Serves as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding cash receipt inquiries
Provides guidance to staff and faculty on cash-related processes and timelines
Contributes to developing efficient processes for cash receipt recording, reconciliation, and reporting
Assists in implementing system improvements and internal controls to strengthen cash management practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Two years of relevant experience
Preferred
Prior experience working in a research academic setting or comparable environment
Prior experience working in healthcare
