Sr. Associate - Investments & Deal Originations - Venture Capital Firm
Hunter SF is a corporate venturing arm in the energy and clean tech space. The Business Development Manager is responsible for managing individual deal flows, including investment and business development strategies, sourcing, negotiation, and execution while collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain deep networks within the start-up and VC communities, industry, and innovation centers
Source deal flow through multiple channels
Prioritize deal flow based on quality, fit, strategic value considerations and economic soundness
Represent the company in industry events and via speaking engagements
Execute opportunity assessment, development of negotiating strategies, transaction structuring, due diligence and transaction execution for complex, strategic, or high-profile corporate venture capital investments
Propose new investments and present opportunities
Build relationships with start-up management, co-investors and board members to effectively position to develop business opportunity
Ensure compliance with Idemitsu investment process guidelines
Contribute to regional investment strategy development and lead the development of investing themes
Provide visibility and objective reporting of portfolio company performance to the firm via verbal and written communications
Ensure transaction documents are on file and maintained
Communicate well with colleagues and related regional offices
Qualification
Required
Strong academic performance from leading institutions
3-7 years experience in business development within finance industry
Experience working in energy and/or clean-tech space
Minimum 3 years experience combining venture capital, corporate venture capital, corporate development, consulting, start-up leadership or related fields
Preferred
Bachelors and Masters Degrees preferably combining engineering/science (chemical, electrical, industrial, mechanical, and materials engineering) and management/finance disciplines
Extensive understanding of technical and market trends in the energy sector
Extensive networks with the regional energy venture capital community
International experience
